Called Sleep Lab

Post by Portageegal » Sat May 16, 2009 7:30 am

I called the hospital to see how often medicare will pay for a sleep study and explained my high AHI's etc. She said "call the DME and have the machine re-calibrated, it may not be set right". I told her it was, but you know how telling them stuff is. So, the guy is coming Wed. Meanwhile I am exhausted and bitchy. Yeah !!!

PGal,

What are the chances that you get the software and card reader so you can see what is going on and do necessary adjusting by yourself? That is what most of the successful members have done.

Good luck,

I agree. Do this and you won't have to wait for them to figure out what to do. You can find out for yourself!

Does anyone know what the least expensive reader that would work for her machine would cost?

Since you have an AUTO can you not use that to pretty much find your own best settings?

Could the following be a solution for you until you can afford software?

Before I was able to get my software to monitor my therapy, I went through my DME.
He was very obliging about giving me a read out from my card. I went to the office
for this service.

I wanted my pressure changed after I got my Auto because it went to high for me
and made my head feel like it was being blown off. I did this my calling my Dr. and he called
the Dme and told him what pressure to set it . I called the Dme and he walked me through the steps to change it. What a relief.

I decided to get a prescription from the Dr. to give the DME for the provider's manual.
This way the Dme and I could talk about pressure changes and my therapy.

You know by reading this forum I didn't have need to talk to him

But with your situation you may because you will want to take your card to him maybe
on a weekly basis for awhile until you get your pressured settled.

Does this scrambled info make any sense to you?
Best wishes for happy therapy Moonbeam

From what I remember of your data, Portageegal, you'll be much better off with a new (insurance paid) sleep study, and a new (insurance paid) machine. My impression was that the ResMed auto algorithm is simply not the right one for you.

If it were me, and I had to decide where to invest my energy - I would definitely do all I could to try another type of machine - maybe a DME can loan you one? or ever rent one for a month? I believe you will learn more from that than from software for the present machine, at this point in time.
