Hi all. Just joined the board. Wanted to tell everyone how happy I am to have a nights sleep. I do believe I had forgotten what a full nights sleep was like. Well this morning was great.
I am a 31m living in NC. I teach 4th grade and it has seemed all year that I was in a race to get home and take a nap. Yesterday I got my ResMed S8 Elite II w/humidifier and a Mirage Quattro FF mask. WOW, the machine is quite, to quite I think as when I first plugged it in and turned it on, before I put the mask on, I had to check that it was running. Thats quite. I got the mask on and adjusted the straps and I love this mask. I did not have to tighten the straps hardly at all to get a seal. As far as I know I had no leaks at all during the night, certainly never felt any. I was able to lay on my side, stomach, and back with no problem. I had to go with the FF mask as I mouth breathe, which isn't a surprise as I have a severe deviated septum which keeps my nose clogged up a lot, very annoying and I hope to get this fixed this summer. I woke up this morning and while I was brushing my teeth I was thinking to myself "Ok, what's different now that I slept with the mask". I looked in the mirror and noticed I did not have any indentions at all, that's a plus. As I was thinking it dawned on me, I don't have a headache. I always have a headache when I wake up. Well one night with the mask and no headache. I LOVE IT!! As I looked in the mirror I kept thinking the dark circles under my eyes are not as dark. When I picked up my car pooler this morning she commented that my eyes didn't look as dark. YAY!! My kids have gym class at 2pm and today I went to gym with them and played. They loved it!! I had not had the energy to do that at all this year.
Well I guess that is it for now. I can't wait to go to bed tonight and use my mask again. I feel a new person coming on with getting real sleep. No more being on vacation and leaving family at Disney World in the middle of the day to go take my nap, which was actually like going back to bed as I would take a 3-4 hour nap. Those naps really took up my weekends. Hmm, maybe I will take up golf or something with my new found time.
So this is what sleep is like

Congratulations!
I am glad the Quattro is working for you. I couldn't get a seal on that mask to save my life. I switched to a nasal mask today so we will see how that goes.
Best of luck to you.

Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.
Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy.

Congratulations! You're what everyone tries to be. I'm very happy for you. Stick around the forum, in case you have any problems, or to help others who aren't as lucky. Plus, there's just a lot of really great Pappers around here!

Congrats on a good beginning.
I'm less than one month in -- and like you, in my early 30's. I am starting to believe that i've had sleep apnea for nearly 10 years, and I regret not getting treated sooner.
But in anycase, I empathize with your Subject " So this is what sleep is like".... i felt that way too after my titration. I recognized what i'd been missing for years. I felt euphoric the next day.
it's not been completely rosey, but even my worst CPAP night is 10x better than my "best" night of sleep from 1998-2008.
I also think the machines are pretty quiet. Based on some of the complaints i've read, I thought they'd sound like a leaf blower. But mine's quieter than the desk fan we've got running.
