Chin Strap and TMJ?

I recently started using a chin strap again after realizing my mouth opened periodically during the night. (without one of those fancy machines, I was under the impression I had this under control until I asked my wife if I was still blowing in the wind. She said yes). Anyway... I have always had TMJ to some degree or another but, since using the chin strap, it seems worse. Does anyone else notice this as a correlation?

Yeah... well that's the reason why I refused to try one and just went with a full face mask.

I've had TMJ now for a number of years.
