This is an interesting article re: some doctors' attempts to silence/muzzle their patients:

Freedom of speech, anyone?

If any doctor wants me to sign one of those agreements, I will tell him goodbye and walk out.

Doctors are like gas stations .... one on every corner.

They don't want word to spread of their incompetence.

Any doctor who is afraid to have his patients talk about him ... is a doctor to be afraid of.

DITTO! Amazing isn't it?! Why is it SO hard just to be a good doctor? You don't have to be GREAT or a "know it all"...just competent...just good. Of course we all KNOW what it is with the bad ones...$M O N E Y$. Like I say ( and I know this for a FACT!!!! And from experience). "The closer to shit you get, the more money you make!" Look around you.

What do you call the person who graduates last from medical school?

Doctor.

That's all you need to know. There are good ones and there are bad ones. If you are lucky you find an ok one. If you are really lucky, you find a good one.

Hmmm... got mixed feelings on this. Because of the freedom of speech issue and knowing being forewarned could save someone from a bad experience, I'm against any "gag orders". However, I do have concerns about any feedback system, as they are generally weighted on the negative side. There is little motivation to take time to say one is satisfied, but dissatisfaction produces its own fuel. Especially in the medical field, when the raters (and ranters) are already out of sorts due to illness, how unbiased is their viewpoint? I know, I sound like I'm arguing with myself. Looking for a bottom line. Freedom of speech would be it.
