is Woolite effetive for cleaning a hose? Should one run the CPAP,unit while the humidifier is being cleaned with ammonia?

Here is an excerpt from forumadmin (the cpaptalk.com Site Administrator)on cleaning hoses:
To disinfect hoses, and humidifier water chambers, use one part vinegar, to three parts water. Let soak for 10 to 15 minutes, rinse with warm water, and place on a towel or over the shower rod to dry. These methods do not require any special chemicals.
