Confused Newbie Looking For Best Machine

That's the only thing I look at... Everything else is pretty much compliance type stuff, but I wouldn't want to go without that one page that shows exactly when I have events, at what pressure, and at what leak rate. Love that page.

After that page I then fire up Encore Analyzer.

If I wasn't so computer techy, then I probably would have opted for the much cooler looking ResMed as people who don't bother with the software seem to like the hassle free daily LCD readouts.

I'll also add that I would have looked long and hard at the whole double HI reporting that people have found that the ResMeds are reporting. When I read Tatoo's daily report of his AHI numbers where he does the "divided by 2" thing for HI's and then recomputes his AHI with that new number, it has me wondering if the ResMed is really doubling that number or if my M-Series is only reporting half.

I wasn't aware of this before I made the plunge, and I guess in the end it really doesn't matter, but it would have bugged me...

"They" do say the Resmeds score the hypopneas more aggressively, and dsm or someone has explained why. But I seriously doubt it is by a factor of 2. It has to do w/flow vibrations or some such as I vaguely remember it. But it has something to do w/the way hypopneas are recognized and responded to between Resmed and the other manufacturers.

I was wondering about that and 2X did sound a little extreme. But some folks seem to take that as gospel and are computing their own AHI's that way. Perhaps they need to look at the cause instead of assuming the machine is exaggerating...

Eh, if your AHI is 5.0 or below who cares if it is all or almost all HIs on a Resmed? MOST people do well on ANY xPAP that is set to the correct pressure for them. But then are a very few who actually respond better to or find one manufacturer's algorhythm more comfortable than another manufacturer's.
