Explain this leak info to me please?

Post by ChipsXJ » Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:31 am

My pressure is 9cmH2O and I use cflex on my Remstar Auto.

My mask rate is just over 30ish. (see chart below)

Does the machine increase the pressure to compensate for the leak? Or does the leak 'steal' from the given pressure?

Thanks

None of the above:

My eyes see a mask leak rate closer to 35 CM at that pressure than 30 CM. Your Mask is showing closer to 45 at that pressure, that higher than the manufacture says is normal for that mask. Could be your machine measures, but more likely the mask is NOT made to their specs.

It's the machines job to keep the pressure at the level it's set at, if a leak happens it speeds up the motor to keep the pressure up, if the leak is too much, the motor can't make up the difference, the pressure goes down, supply and demand. Too much leak, causes to low a pressure, treatment is damaged. Jim

thanks. I can accept that it does not meet the manufacturers specs....maybe.

Let me ask you this: As long as the pressure graph line is level at the set pressure...............does that mean the machine is keeping up with the leaks and maintaining the correct pressure......resulting in adequet treatment (all things being equal)?

thanks again for all of your help GoofProof.

What you really want to avoid is those "large leaks", identified by the horizontal dark blocks at the top. The machine can't compensate for those and usually ceases recording events.
