Encore Pro Unable to Connect to Database

Post by DrewE » Sun Feb 22, 2009 8:27 pm

I have been running Encore Pro 1.8.49 and Encore Pro Analyzer successfully under Windows XP SP1 for several months. Recently, I began getting the "Unable to connect to specified database" error when I try to run either program. The SQL Server Service Manager indicates that the INSP8200\ENCOREPRO SERVER is running.

I recently purchased a new computer that I would like to get Encore Pro running with the most current data. I have not backed up to .xml for a few months. If I cannot get Encore Pro to run on the old computer to export my data to a .xml file, is it possible to copy the raw data files into the new computer installation?

What operating system? If it's XP or Vista 32 bit, you should be OK. If it's 64 bit, you may have a problem.

Theoretically, once you get the software installed on the new machine, you MAY be able to copy the appropriate directories to a USB thumb drive and copy them to the new machine.
