For Side Sleepers....

I hope this isn't out of line to put on here, its not an advertisement. I bought a pillow last week at the DME office. Its made by Contour Products. It has an indention on each side of the pillow by your ears. The idea being, when you turn over your mask fits right into that indention. Last night I turned over sometime in the night. I awoke this morning on my side-without my mask leaking!!! I guess the darn thing worked...I'm fairly new here, so this might not be help to anyone, but it sure is for me...Thanks, Larry

Glad it helped! I'm too cheap to buy one. I just bought a $12 memory foam contour pillow at Big Lots and sleep on the edge, so my face and mask are dangling free. Works for me.

BTW, if you need one of these cheap, you can buy any cheap memory foam contour pillow, and cut out the divets yourself with an electric carving knife. (Easily found at Goodwill). Of course, the custom pillow case is another story. One member just pokes the excess pillowcase down into the divet and safety pins it to the pillow.

SB, NEVER hurts to mention what works and what doesn't work.
It's all very subjective.

I tried one of those pillows early on....
for me, it was worthless.
Personally, I am a pillow slasher ......and I don't need no stink'n, fancy electic knife .....
but that is a topic for another discussion.

Whatever works, for you, go with it and good for you.

TSK! I failed to mention the electric knife if only necessary for pansy girly-types like me. Strong gripped he-men and tear them apart with their bare hands.

Congratulations.

Personally, I have one and I can't sleep on it. Been thinking of getting a different PAP pillow, but not really sure which one I want to risk spending more money on.....but I do need to spend a bit more to get my order to over $100 from cpap.com....

My RT advised me to get a $55 CPAP pillow; I got a $35 memory-foam pillow at Target; I'm guessing it's the same as a contour pillow....for $12 at BigLots!

Haven't cut it - I just use a corner and it sleeps like a dream.

YUP! Foam is foam. Just shop around, you can find a bargain. But also bear in mind that they come in different heights, different firmnesses, and they all disintegrate at a varying rate. I normally have to replace mine every year or so. I can tell when I start waking up with headaches.

I've also found them for $12 at Ross.

Actually, my wife bought it for me. She knew I'd never spend $50 on a pillow Fishing stuff? Heck Ya!! Babs, my wife wont allow me to handle any knives--except the ones I clean fish with..

I bought one for about $65. It looks like a boomerang. I tried it one night, but the pillow was too hard and too high for me. I like a flat, soft pillow. I have a lot of issues with my FF mask moving every time I change positions.

Buckwheat hull pillows are also a good option for side sleepers. They are stable enough to allow you to hang mask off the end without losing any support. They are more malleable than other pillows which allows you to adjust for mask and comfort. They are definitely "firm", but I prefer that. Another benefit of Buckwheat hull is that they supposedly do not host dust mites and other allergens.

It would be a total waste of time for me. I have cinched myself up in a full backpack, worn a back brace tighten to the max with a bike helmet on my back, worn a water pack filled with a gallon jug, placed a soccer ball under a compression shirt....I manage somehow by twisting and turning to move them to the side so I get on my back in every situation....and if they won't move I will just suffer the pain and lay on them.

My goodness, track. You really are determined to flop over onto your back, aren't you?

You must have been a sleep tech's dream patient. Supine all night without any reminders.
