Switch machines?

Post by jerseygirl » Tue Feb 17, 2009 12:48 pm

Hi gang! I have been enjoying viewing all the shares and the great wisdom of everyone. Thanks so much for all the help.

I've been on cpap therapy since Dec. 09, using a Resmed S8 Escape with humidifier, Swift lt small, and Comfortgel full face Medium mask. On Medicare. I've been reading about the data capable Resmed S8 Elite, and would like to get that one. the local DMA said I had 30 days to replace anything, and I'm past that. Since the DMA is charging "rental" Does anyone know if Medicare will allow a switch in machines to the patient viewable Data machine? I called Medicare and got nowhere!! I have an apt with the sleep doc next week and thinking of talking him into re-writing my rx.

Plus any clues on how to stop the leaks in the ff? It fits my mouth's width but is too high on my nose bridge that it is sooo close to my eyes, I either get the mouth to stop leaking or my eyes but hardly ever both! I was thinking about double face tape, but don't know how that reacts to the silicone.

I'm not on Medicare, but am on Tricare Prime who also does the 13 month rental thingy, so don't know if the rules are the same or not...but, I went on in mid-December, and my DME switched my machine out this week...Both were data capable, I just liked the ResMed Elite II that hubby got instead of the M Series Pro I had....I'm betting there's a way to switch 'em even now.

Hi Jerseygirl-----You will want to upgrade to the data capable Resmed S8 Elite--that is what I now have. I started with the Escape which is a good machine but not data capable. I see my stats every morning on the LCD readout --which is nice to see and not only have to judge by how I feel each morning --keep striving for that upgrade!! I haev Cigna-Apria so I cannot advise on how the insurance works on Medicare.
