I have been using a CPAP for several years. I have progressed from no humidifier to a cool passover and presently a heated humidifier. I have used several masks, (my mask selection is limited because of my full beard). I have adjusted the heat levels and the level of humidity. The air in our home is sufficiently humidified. I simply can't sleep through the night without waking up after about 3 hours with a super dry nose and often a dry throat as well. I sleep great to that point. I NEED HELP!!!!!!! Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the board, argon! Sorry to hear you're having such an uncomfortable problem. Can't be pleasant to get waked up that way.

It will help people make suggestions if you'll list your equipment.

To make your machine and mask info show up automatically each time you post:

Click the words User Control Panel (upper left of this page, just below the "Search" box.)

Click the Profile tab.

Click Edit Equipment (select at least the machine and the mask.)

If you're not sure of the name of your machine, look on the machine. Full name of machine is usually written on top. Name of mask is usually written on back of headgear or on the mask itself.

Allow other users to view your CPAP equipment: Yes

How would you like your equipment displayed: choose Text (not "Image")

Click Submit.

I'm guessing you wear a nasal mask. Your mouth is falling open during the night and that's where your therapy air is going.
Lots of XPAP users with beards have full face masks......lots of them tape their mouths or seal them in other ways (Polident adhesive denture strips) and then others put their health above their egos and shave......

Argon, I wear a full face mask. I had my humidifier set at three and was having dry mouth. I didn't have a humidifier on the furnace but had two big console humidifiers in the house. I figured all was fine since I keep a guage in the family room that tells me the temp and humidity, which was within normal limits. But I was still waking up with my mouth dry. I did find that I was breathing through my mout a lot which is why I wore a full face mask. I couldn't figure it out until I got another guage and found out my bedroom was dry. I went out and purchased a room humidifier and haven't work up with dry mouth since. I have had a little bit of moisture in my mask but nothing bit.

Check the humidity of the room you are sleeping in.
