Drooling and mask leaks

Post by Portageegal » Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:53 am

Sometimes, okay MOST of the time, I drool a little. Once my face gets wet the mask leaks near the side of my mouth. If I get the bottom of the mask tight enough the top leaks, if I get the whole mask tight I have mask marks for hours. I guess there isn't a solution I just want to vent. Pardon the pun.

I wake up with dried drool all the time BUT am using a nasal mask and not a full-faced mask so the drool does not end up inside the mask. I don't know of any solutions for this with a full mask. Hopefully someone else with this problem will chime in and give you some suggestions to try. One would be to go to a nasal mask and tape your mouth to stop you from opening your mouth at night and loosing air and treatment at night.

Good luck,
Brooke

I droll too. Have to wash my chinstrap often - it gets caked on there. My leak rates are OK though. I do't drool with the full face mask on though, just with the nasal mask.

Prior to CPAP my pillow would be soaked each morning. I have a FFM and so far I haven't had/noticed any drooling. I was wondering about that. A night ago I didn't use CPAP (had a cold) and the drooling was back.

My volume of drool is directly proportional to the slutiness of Angelina's choice of sleepwear on any given evening.

I won't be much help, other than to say I have the same problem. I use the Hybrid and several times a week I wake up to find I'm drooling inside the mask. Can't stand the feeling, so I keep tissues nearby to stick up under the mask to wipe it off!! I don't know if it makes my mask leak or not; I think because I hate the feeling so much, I'm waking up before it gets to that point.
