chin strap

Post by rgn » Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:46 pm

I have a Respironics Premium Chinstrap. I have trouble with it laying on part of my ear. Then, the ear gets sore. I cut part of it away, but it doesn't seem to help. Any other chinstraps work any better?

Mine is a Viasys... ??? haven't tried any other ones yet. Those make my ears sore, too. I turned mine around and it gives me a little more space around my ears.

If you like the chinstrap, otherwise, try wrapping the sides in soft fleece material. Karen at Pad-a-Cheeks may be able to help you if you aren't handy with sewing. She has been able to make wraps for all kinds of strap issues.

I was using the respironics chin strap but found that it had a tendacy to slip off the back of my head as i moved - i recently changed to a Ruby chinstrap made by puresom- i was a bit sceptical originally as it is not adjustable it just comes as a small medium and large. I got the medium first and that was a bit too snug but the large fits like a charm- it works well for me and i find it is far more comfortable than the original strap- there are many out there and i think that it is a bit like mask selection- what works well for one person is a flop for another, it takes a bit of trial and error
