Great service from my Sleep Center
Great service from my Sleep Center
I had called to say I thought my settings needed to be changed again. Initially it was set from 10-16. Then it was changed to 6-12. They said to bring in the AutoSet II and not only would they download the data that was stored since the start (1/2/09), but print me out a copy.
Here are my results from 1/2/09 through 1/19/09:
Median Pressure: 11.2
95th percentile: 12.2
Maximum: 12.8
Leak Median: 0.0
Leak 95th percentile: 0.0
AI 0.0
AHI 1.6
HI 1.6
% time in apnea 0.0
The range was changed to 8 to 14. The good news is that I can take my smartcard after downloading it from the machine and they will print out a full report using the ResScan software at no charge. So, I guess as of right now I will not need to purchase a cardreader and software. That is great service if you ask me.

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
Your sleep center appears to be working well with you. Your numbers look great! As long as you are feeling well and are comfortable taking your card in for a read-out, then you are good to go.
Congratulations!

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
That pressure range change seems good after reading your previous thread with your data posted.
Seems like your sleep center is doing a great job for you and really looking at your data with care!

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
Yes, I have been very impressed. I live in a town of about 25,000 and am fortunate to have a local sleep study center. She was surprised I was able to use the clinical settings to read the data daily. I told her being an electrical engineer my curiosity and the need to know how things worked got the best of me. She said well just download your card anytime you want a printout and bring it in.Hawthorne wrote:That pressure range change seems good after reading your previous thread with your data posted.

I agree with the new settings as well. I am still figuring out why they changed me to 6-12 range. The 8-14 will be ok for now. As I continue to lose weight I am expecting to get closer to the 8 as opposed to the 14. I turn 56 Saturday and have begun (again) after a 2 year lay off of putting in some decent monthly mileage on my bicycle. The weight is beginning to drop and my legs are much more refreshed after a long mileage ride after spending a night on the CPAP as opposed to having apena all night.

Even if the DME, paid me and, put gas in my car, when I let them print out my data, I'd still have the software and use it. My time is useful, I'll stay home and use my own. jim

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
The 8 to 14 should be great, given your numbers. The 6 to 12 was odd, when you were close to or hitting the 12 cm pressure so often.
If you don't get closer to 8, that's no problem. The pressure setting has nothing to do with the severity of your sleep apnea. It is the pressure required to keep YOUR airway open so that events are limited or prevented. You may or may not need less pressure to keep your airway open as you get in shape. Either way, as long as you are getting good therapy that's the main thing and your data shows that you are. Getting good therapy AND getting in shape will make your life so much better.
Of course, it is always good to get in shape!!
Looks like you are off to great start with great support from you local sleep center. Anything we can do here on the forum - just ask!!
All the best!

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
You sound either bitter toward your DME or live too far away to make it convenient. Whatever makes you happy. BTW, it is not my DME, but the local sleep center agreeing to do this for me. My time is precious to me also, but I don't feel the need to throw money away for software/cardreader equipment unnecessarily either. Cheer up!!Goofproof wrote:Even if the DME, paid me and, put gas in my car, when I let them print out my data, I'd still have the software and use it. Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
My DME, "Lincare", took my card to read, after 3 weeks of not being able to get their ex-fry clerk to get the software to work, I had to threaten them with returning the XPAP unless I got my card back. Then I proceeded to run my own life. Now, if need be, I can see every day how I am doing, in five minutes using no gas, and save the results in .pdf files to use later. This is as "Cheerful", as I get! Jimgapwedge wrote:You sound either bitter toward your DME or live too far away to make it convenient. Whatever makes you happy. Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
Gapwedge is talking about a Sleep Center not a DME, Goofproof. Whichever it is, he has really "luckout" and we should be glad for him. He is very fortunate and, in a small city, he doesn't have to go far to get the kind of service most of us would like!
Many of us have not had that experience, gapwedge.

Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
The Sleep Center was even worse, less than 9 months old. I was supposed to be on 2 L of O2, they never had any. they had to go through 3 sets of leads to find one that the wires would work, even then they failed twice in the night and had to redo them. They said I had 3 hours of sleep with 450 events. Do I think they did a good test, NO! The did however come within 2 CM of what I now use, so it wasn't a complete failure. I'm sure my Sleep Doc has a part in the sleep lab, as his practice os close-by and the buildings are almost new. Would I ever have another sleep test, NO! I can do a better job myself, and do! I still use the same Doc, he is pleasant and does Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, he is aware that I control my treatment, and says I do fine with it. Even he frowned on giving me a script for APAP, but he sees the advantage of knowing how you are doing. JimHawthorne wrote:Gapwedge is talking about a Sleep Center not a DME, Goofproof. Re: Great service from my Sleep Center
Goof, that is some kinda experience. That might have driven me from ever going forward with using CPAP. I am so new to this I had no idea about some of these experiences I have read.Goofproof wrote:The Sleep Center was even worse, less than 9 months old.
