I don't need cpap.....

....'cause I'm just a dog, and I sleep pretty good without it.

I went for a wonderful bike ride today.
Winter has passed us by this year, it would seem.
We have had two snow falls and some cold weather, but for the most part....nothing.
So, cycling is in full swing. With the added benefit of sleep recovery,
my off season program is already paying dividends.
I can already feel it is going to be a super year of cycling.

Did my ride around Boulder.
Start in Marshall, south of Boulder, ride around the city, and up to Lyons.

My Red Heeler is getting pretty old (13) and I notice that he sure snores alot more.

Another thing I found interesting, my brother had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that had serious snoring problems. He had to be put down at the age of 9 due to congestive heart failure, one of the side effects of OSA. Wonder if some dogs get it.

Likely did, but with dogs the problem is usually breeding for looks, regardless of what it's doing to their anatomy. Just ridiculous!

I asked my vet the last time this question came up. Her comment was that dogs have essentially the same structures we do, so there's no reason why they couldn't get it. She did observe that it could be interesting persuading a dog to be compliant on CPAP, considering how many humans can't manage it.

LOL! Now all you have to do is figure out how to get them to do accurate sleep studies and titrations on canines, and make masks that fit! Our fur kids have even more variation in facial and nasal anatomy than we humans do!

You are all too funny! My dad is a vet so the next time I see him I think I will ask him. I also like the picture of Cesear Milan. If anyone was going to get a dog to be compliant on the machine it would be him. Have a good day everyone.

Dori, that is Sage. Those eyes are beautiful and she knows how to use them.

Well you could never get a cpap mask on any of my Schnauzers, they chomp at any air coming their way, vacuum, burps etc. they try to eat the air!
