eye irritaton
Is it possible that the air intake can force air into the eyes from within the nose. I am getting terrible eye irritation . My mask feels like it fits really good and no leaks that I can detect . Thanks in advance

Re: eye irritaton
I've read that it's possible:

However, before I'd think it was air leaking out of your eye, I'd look at more common sources of eye irritation when using CPAP. You said you haven't detected any leaks. That's while you're awake. Many people can sleep right through some pretty massive leaks without ever waking up. I'd want to check the overnight leak rate -- assuming using a machine that records full data so a person can look at the leak rate next morning. Here's a link to a page listing some machines that can record AHI and leak data and those that can't:

Another thing I'd consider is that even if the mask is not leaking, the top of the mask might be shoving the lower eyelids and/or skin under the eyes upward in a way that irritates the eyes. Perhaps it might not start out "fitting" that way, but during the night, perhaps in different sleep positions, the head pillow might be scrunching the mask up under the eyes, shoving everything more against the eye. Again, something you wouldn't necessarily notice while awake and getting the mask settled.
My first guess, though, is that there are some tiny outside leaks at the top of the mask that aren't there when you go to bed and are still awake checking for them. Little "top of the mask" leaks that are developing during the night and go unnoticed while you're sleeping.
Hope you can get the problem solved.

Re: eye irritaton
Hate to be a party pooper and this probably doesn't apply to you -- but you can never tell.
I have had a lot of congestion the last few days and have went to my full face mask due to mouth breathing. My eyes have been irritated the last couple of days but I have blamed it on the small leaks round my eyes and the congestion in my head.
My principal came in this afternoon to discuss something with me and as he was leaving he looked at me and said I think you have pink eye (it is rampant in our school right now). I said -- nah don't think so I think it is just this stinking cold I have and it will be alright. After I got to my car I thought maybe I should call the doctor and they told me to drop by on the way home and she would check them really fast.
Yup -- I have pink eye -- in both eyes - go figure.

Re: eye irritaton
I had serious sinus surgery years ago and cpap air blows straight out the inside corner of my eye which is one of the places they cut through. It is sometimes worse than others. It will blow out there sometimes when I sneeze.
