Catching up..

It's been awhile since I've wrote, so I thought I'd update. I've been better since I finally got oxygen at night. This was after a 7 week struggle, stupid doctors, stupid insurance rules, a stupid DME delaying it a week, etc. But I haven't had an ER visit and my energy is much improved since.

Unfortunately, everybody is now waiting until the University of Michigan appt. in March to do anything. The bariatric surgeon doesn't want to do the lap-band surgery until I've been seen. But I am going in tomorrow to the surgeon's office, and I am hoping with the recent improvements, he will consider doing it soon.

A good, but boring holiday in California (wine country) with my family. My "big" gift was a rechargeable power backup that is alot like a car battery. It will even put air in my tires and jump my car. But mostly it has two electrical outlets that should last about 8 hours in the event of a power outage. With life here in Michigan, you never know when one will happen.

Still dealing with piles of paperwork, especially for Medicaid. And my stupid insurance company..I'm not covered and can't get my prescriptions because they are inefficient, stupid people. I was assured repeatedly that my insurance would continue without disruption on December 26th, when I qualified for a 11 month disability extension on COBRA (until I qualify for Medicare with my Social Security disability). I paid my bill with the disability extension COBRA rates up to Jan. 31st. Stupid, stupid Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I'm sure I'll "win" this...but why the hell did it happen and not allow me to get my meds??? Aaggh.

Hi Lovey. Good to hear from you. Seems dealing with insurance and any government agencies is full of challenges. I'm glad you are hopeful that things will at some point fall into place. And that there's been no more need for ER visits! Here's wishing that 2009 is your year.
