Expiration Pressure Relief

Post by Slinky » Fri Jan 02, 2009 1:56 pm

I've been under the impression that the ONLY manufacturers providing expiration pressure relief were Resmed w/their EPR and Respironics w/their C-Flex, A-Flex and Bi-Flex.

However, I recently saw mention of SoftX in conjunction w/EPR and the C, A & Bi-Flex' So curious soul that I am I had to go looking for SoftX technology and just what it is.

SoftX Technology is standard on the Invacare Polaris EX CPAP with SoftX. Named after the soft exhalation sensation it creates, SoftX makes breathing with CPAP feel natural and more comfortable for patients; however, it is possible to set the unit as a standard CPAP.

SoftX makes breathing with CPAP feel natural and more comfortable for the user by decreasing the pressure that the patient must exhale against while still maintaining a substantially constant positive airway pressure (CPAP).

SoftX Technology tracks the patient's breathing pattern and minimizes the patient's work of breathing during exhalation by using an active, variable resistance valve and a constant speed blower to significantly enhance response time and reduce pressure swings.

Three SoftX settings and standard CPAP capability.

But it "ain't" fully data capable.

Close to how the others provide exhale relief.

But with no full data to look at, "Ain't Good enough We need more companies to listen, and pay attention to our needs. Close but no Cigar. Jim
