Mask Recommendation

Post by sfldan » Fri Jan 02, 2009 4:48 am

I wear a full face mask and my partner complains of getting hit with category 5 winds from the venting of the mask. Are there any full face masks that are vented over the head instead of directly in front of the face?

You didn't say what mask you were currently wearing, but from your description, it sounds like a Respironics Comfortfull 2.
My ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face and Quattro masks both vent in an upward angle from the area around the upper bridge of the nose/between the eyes. Of the two, the Quattro is quieter, but I prefer the UMFF for the better airflow inside the mask.

Hello & Welcome, sfldan! Glad you found this forum--SO much useful info and SO many helpful people here!

I use a Resmed Ultra Mirage Full Face mask, and the exhaust is at the top, blows over my wife's head and pillow, so no high wind problems. Good luck!

There's a new Cpap.com mask called the Forma, which claims to vent up and away rather than straight ahead into your partner's face, so take a look at it on the website.

My husband uses an UltraMirage and I have a Flexifit 432. They both vent somewhat up, but unlike RVW's experience, my hubby's hits me in the face. And mine hits his. Our solution is to put a pillow standing up between us. So far, that works pretty well for us.

I'm going to look into the Forma....

Good luck.

Thanks for all your help, I think I'll try the Forma.

Right now I'm using the Flexifit HC423, which is very comfortable for me, but sadly, it's not always all about me...
