Well, I've learned my lesson

Post by ldemmery » Tue Dec 28, 2004 1:13 pm

Christmas Eve my darling husband fell on the ice (yes it's cold and very icy and lots of snow here in Ottawa, Canada) on the way home from shopping. There was a warning out telling everyone on side streets to be careful. He was 4 blocks from our house. He broke his fibula (bone next to his tibia, about an inch up from the ankle).

We spent christmas eve and up till yesterday at the hospital waiting for an operation for the doctors to pin and put a metal plate in and a great big screw through the leg (he also dislocated his ankle in breaking the bone).

Well, I got home late on christmas eve from the hospital and fell asleep on the couch and got up at 3am and went to bed...too tired to put my CPAP on (this is the first time I've done this). BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!

I was sooooo tired the next day at the hospital that I had to leave early in order to get some good sleep. I'll never do that again. (Yes, I did see warnings about doing that, but you know, you never know until you do it yourself.)

So, Hubby is home now all fixed up, I'm sleeping with my CPAP properly since. Still lots of ice outside so going out is limited Between the Perkasets and the asprine, hubby is in little or no pain. I'm run off my feet. Life is good!

I hope everyone had a good christmas. BTW, cafeteria christmas dinner at the Ottawa Civic Hospital is very good. Not that I want to do that again!

Take care all!

Lynne

ohhhh lynne...so sorry to hear that your husband had such a painful accident. Glad everything is fixed up and he's home again.

One nap once without my machine was enough for me. You're right...wouldn't ever want to ever sleep without it now.

LDyer,

Please read this thread carefully... and might I suggest you take heed. Just had to get one more shot in.
Sincerely,
