card reader and vista

Post by whatrdreamsmadeof » Thu Dec 25, 2008 3:26 pm

I have not been able to read my stats for almost a year now ( I know, bad plan ), but with the New Year just 5 days away I thought I'd give it another go. I have been compliant though 100 percent. Three years in and still struggling I am not giving up.
I can't get my card reader to work on my laptop or desktop as it is vista and says a new program is necessary. Does anyone know what I need to do? Also Happy Holidays to all!!! Today is x-mas in Virginia!

what version of encore do you have?

for vista you need either encore viewer or encore pro 1.8

I have Encore Viewer and have no problems with it and Windows Vista. I have Vista 32 bit. I understand there are problems with the software and 64 bit Vista.

Also, you should not install the card reader drivers with the disk that came with it. When you install Encore Viewer it automatically installs the drivers for the Infineer card reader.

I don't know if this helps but these are 2 things I have heard in relation to installing the Encore software.

Vista must be the 32 bit version. For it to run in 32 bit it must have 3 megs of ram or less or have Vista Ultimate which will let you select which way you want to run. Also Encore Pro must be version 1.8i.49 or 1.8i.65.

Sent you a PM.

Hi everyone, thanks for your speedy replies, Jules, my computer is 32bits, but my Encore Pro is 1.6 so maybe that's why I can't get the card reader to work.
I appreciate everyones help.

1.6 would be the problem. That will work for XP and for the m series (non-aflex one) or tanks, but for the aflex apap or for vista you need EP 1.8 or Encore Viewer.

Exactly why. Like Jules said You need Encore 1.8 or Viewer for Vista. Or go back to XP.

So far no one has been able to get Encore Pro or Viewer to work on Vista 64.
