SUCCESS AND MERRY XMAS

Post by mdpooch » Thu Dec 25, 2008 1:16 pm

I have all of you to thank for my success!! Last night I slept very well my leak rate was 0.14 AHI was 2.2 AI 0 Hi 2.2 and thanks to all of your advice and help I have come this far. I have been a CPAP user since November 13,2008 and have had a lot of valuable advice and been lucky to have a good RT. The last two nights I havent had any white residue on my lips. Now what I am trying to do is to find out for my own reference is exactly what the AHI means , leak rate. HI and AI in laymans terms. I am starting an excel spreadsheet as of today to keep track of my results etc... and make any notes along side them. I also have a freind that is currently doing the sleep test and I am in hopes that maybe I can help him a bit and steer him to this forum but he is kind of in denial right now because he says he isnt going to wear any D**n mask, so we will see.....Happy Holidays and take care

How to figure the AHI (Apnea/Hypopnea Index.)
Add together your apneas and hypopneas. Ignore the snores, flow limitations. Just add the apneas and hypopneas together. Divide that number by the total number of hours you slept.

Example:

3 apneas, 7 hypopneas = 10
Slept 6 hours (divide 10 by 6) = 1.6

The AHI for that night is 1.6
