I just got my new nasalaire II this week and I noticed it's quieter than all the nasalaires I've has in the past. This time I got the six prong set in the plastic and cardboard tray instead of the ziplock bag set up. The darn thing is so quiet that I cannot hear it blow on my pressure which goes as high as 20 during the night, but as low as 14 at other times (this is the only nasal pillow or prong mask that will not blow off your face at such high pressures, by the way).
Same comfortable feel and the tube looks the same as always , the only difference is the noise level is down to almost zero on this unit.
Am I just the luck of the draw or is this a real upgrade? Does anyone know?
I would call and ask but I've sort of overused their kindness in the past and don't want to make myself out to be the "nosey pest" (excuse the pun).

Re: new nasal aire II
Issac, I agree. I have been on the NAII for a year and a half. I have seen others complain about the noise. I thought it was me being old and heard of hearing and I was missing something. I never thought the older ones were all that noisy unless the exaust hit the pillow but the new ones do seem to be a bit quiter. I do like the NAII and it works well for me.

Re: new nasal aire II
Issac, glad to you see you posting!!!!
I've always had the ones out of the tray, so I don't have a frame of reference. I do know you've sent me "baggie" versions, but I didn't realize there was anything different about them.
I've had the opportunity to listen to one patient masked up with it, and was very surprised how very quiet the set up was - she has the same machine as I, as well.
My only noise issue is air hitting the pillow or sheets. And when it bugs me, I just shift my face, or pull the covers back down. I think once I get good and zonked out, I don't notice it.
BF still swears it doesn't bother him at all - noise or air blowing on him.
BTW, just an update to all the NAII Test Drive Donors - currently I have two masks in rotation, and one that's been donated to an indigent forum member. Many thanks to the Great Lady who donated that particular mask! The forum member is quite shy, and I've never seen her post publicly. She approached me privately when she realized I lived near her, and we struck up an offline friendship. She's uninsured, and still in collections over a really bad deal that Apria did her over her machine. She was so grateful to get a mask that WORKS, for FREE, that I just wanted to let you all know what great folks you all are to have been so generous with your donations. {{{{Donors}}}}
Another aside - I am instituting some new concepts after the last couple of test drives and some feedback I received:
1) I'm disinfecting with Control III now, instead of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap, and a vinegar/water soak. One test driver had a real bad reaction to the scent of Dr. Bronner's. It's probably a good thing to ramp up the disinfection routine. In fact, I'm going to experiment this weekend with boiling the cannulas for 5 minutes. They are silicone, and should stand it just fine. This is standard practice for cleaning, er, um, silicone, er, um, TOYS, so I should think the cannulas would respond well.
2) No more samples of PurSleep in the box! One test driver had a bad reaction to the scent, which she said permeated everything in the box. Nice idea, but better off to keep it separate from the NAII Test Drive.
So Issac - have we lured you away from the NAI? Any chance you have an old NAI Large cannula you might want to send my way? I'm just about to morph over to the NAI as the NAII large seems to have just a teensy bit of slippage on me now, but the XL is too big.
Hugs all around,
Babs

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
