Full Face Mask

Post by Rob_Dempsey » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:12 pm

Ok so i'm looking for some advice on a full face mask. I used a medium Mirage Quattro for my first mask and although i was starting to get some relief from it, I could not stand what it was doing to my face. Even with padacheek and some macks and bandaids I ended up with a open sore on the bridge of my nose. I finally got frustrated and got my DME to switch it out with a Liberty. Used the Liberty for two nights and knew right away that it was not going to work. I cannon stop the mask from leaking even if I drop my pressure from 15 to 10.5. I finally got to look at my PSG and it lists that i used a Respironics Comfort Full Medium for my study. Does anyone have a comparison of the Quattro and the Comfort Full? I have not slept as well as i did that night since i was 13 and i'm desperate to get something even close to that again. I've been without cpap for 3 weeks and I can already tell I"m back to where I was before treatment so any information would be appreciated.

Find a place that will let you try different masks when you're there, preferably lying down. Other than that, if you can afford the $50.00 insce. fee that Cpap.com offers with whatever mask you want to try out (they'll allow returns if you pay the fee) why not try e.g. the Ultramirage FF, which is a different design than the Quattro or Liberty and has different options for fitting comfort.

I've tried several masks, and the mirage ultra works best for me because the bridge of my nose is wide. The quattro is made for a narrow nose bridge and rubbed sores on my nose. According to the folks at the med supply store, the ultra is best if the quattro does not work.

Rob, you might want to check out "Mack's Pillow Soft Silicon Ear Plugs" that you can get at Walmart. They are made of solf silicone and you can break them up, roll them out into little ropes, them mash them flat and put on your mask where you're getting the leaks and irritation. They're good for 2 or 3 days each. Plus, they're pretty cheap.

Good luck!
