After four month's and three sleep study's, my ear jaw and neck pain, severe headaches plus the much less than impressive sleep improvement, teeth moving around and severe depression have me very, very discouraged.
I am 140 - 155 pound's over weight , ( depending on who you ask) trying to lose weight without sleep has proved futile.
I have been out of work for 2 year's and will be losing my home soon due to lack of fund's.
I am now wondering if I find a way to get lipo suction or what ever , if THAT will solve the apnea problem.
anyone go that route ? what say you?
( I have heard a few claim's that people on cpap have lost enough weight that they could discontinue cpap machines, but never 1st hand ,always a story)

It will help to know what mask you are using and what machine you have. Do you use a full face mask? Do you have much leaking? If you use a nasal mask you could be mouth breathing and losing therapy that way, which will equate to no therapy.
I don't know if you could lose enough weight with liposuction to make much difference. I have investigated the other surgical means and have chosen not to go that route. I am still over weight and cpap has not been a miracle for me. Some do report that they are able to lose weight after successful treatment with cpap.

Seems like your priorities are not in the correct order. Seems like you are looking for an excuse NOT to use CPAP rather than for a way to improve your health.
Aerobic organisms have to breathe in order to function properly. How can you pay for lipo if you don't have a job? ... or a home? ... or lack of funds?
What is your problem with using CPAP?
Learn to breathe first, health issues are much easier to overcome once your body gets the oxygen it needs and you relieve hypoxic stress to the body.
As was suggested, join the forum and learn to use CPAP successfully and get on the road to recovery of your health, depression, and finances.
Best of luck.

Lipo won't help your apnea. Why not? Because lipo reduces your weight just in the spots they do the lipo. That doesn't reduce the fatty deposits in your throat that increase the severity of sleep apnea.

Re: weight and sleep, cpap vs surgery
I am way overweight and 61 yrs. old. I lost 120 lbs. ( I put it back on) along time ago and was told my snoring wasn't as bad. Losing weight can't hurt, but there is no way I would have surgery.
I have been using APAP for almost two months and it is like a miracle. I always slept, but never rested. Now I don't go back to bed in the a.m. and have a lot more energy. The full face mask can be a pain, but I use a square decorative pillow and let my face hang off the side. I even manage to sleep on my stomach. I do get leaks when the pressure gets up, but I reset and usually that takes care of it for the rest of the night.

Weight loss is a slow progressive process. My advice is simple. Start small and build up. MY advice to a very overweight neighbour and others which worked well for them was to set a countdown timer on their mobile phone or watch and take a gentle walk for 5 minutes or 10 minutes etc. When the alarm beeped, turn round and walk home. Do this every day and gradually the distance you cover in the time will increase. With time you can increase your walking time and slowly you will lose weight and become fitter. This becomes a snowball effect. They didn't change their diet to begin with but made sure they didn't increase their food intake. With time they wanted to improve their diet which again helped their fitness/weight loss. One friend lost enough weight to look great in her wedding dress despite her deepset well ingrained doubts.

Hi,
I used to be pretty obese and started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose much weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss supplement. I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. Within 4 months I managed to lose about 65 pounds. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now. You can read more about the lady's article at

Weight loss rates of 18 lbs per month are unhealthy .... and the older one is the more dangerous starvation diets like WuYi tea are.jennifer8055 wrote:Hi,

Healthy weight loss requires balanced whole foods diet and regular exercise for 30 minutes or more every day.
