Geez, Ya Go Away For 9 Months And What Happens??
Geez, Ya Go Away For 9 Months And What Happens??
There's a whole new look to the forum site!! Well done, Johnny and company!
Yeah, it's been a while. I got a bit of a promotion at work (more work, additional duties, no more $$, though..the usual LOL)and had a bunch of learning to do. And, of course, this is all in addition to my usual work, not instead of! But I gotta tell ya'll....I ain't bored at work no more!
On the home front, things have also changed in the last 7 weeks or so. My brother who lived in Galveston, TX lost his townhome in Hurricane Ike. He'd evacuated over to LA to our Mom's fortunately. His place and the other 5 in the same group burned during the middle of the hurricane. Best they can figure is that a power line snapped and sparked on the roof till it caught fire. Of course, the fire dep't couldn't get there, so it burned all the way to the slab, leaving him his car and a suitcase full of clothes. As if that wasn't bad enough, he'd just finished radiation/chemotherapy for lung cancer on May 2 and was still feeling really bad from that. I got a call from our Mom to come help, which I did. My bro ended up with pneumonia and in a hospital in SW LA for a week. Geez. Then, worst luck of all...he came to live with Sweetie, Bunny and I. We fixed up one of our spare rooms for him and got him settled in just in time for his pneumonia to return. Another 2 weeks in hospitals and then we found out his lung cancer had resurged. Sheesh! Right now, he's doing well, though. Got a good cancer doc from Albuquerque he's starting to see today and he is all registered with Home Health Services here in our little town in SW NM. He's feeling stronger and hopefully will go on another medication today to slow things down. And the poor guy is only 68 and hasn't smoked in over 30 years. There just ain't no justice!
As for me, my APAP is still going strong. Yep, use it every single night and I'm pleased to say that things are going well on that front.
Anywho, it's great to be back and see a bunch of familiar "faces" as well as a bunch of new folks. I'm not gonna be posting a bunch, but will probably get back here a few times a week to check in.
Happy Holidays, ya'll! Oh, heck, lemme be a bit un-PC. Merry Christmas to one and all!!

Re: Geez, Ya Go Away For 9 Months And What Happens??
OT Warning....
Merry Meet, TXKajun. Have a good Yule (that's pagan for the Winter Solstice).
(This is a Yule tree, which predates Christianity.*) If you can wish me your religious holiday, I can wish you mine.
CorgiGirl
P.S. I'm not angry, just trying to make a point here. It's not PC to say "Happy Holidays" it's simply polite. There are several religions that do not celebrate Christmas, but do have December holidays. Jews, Pagans, and Zoroastrians to name a few. Unless you know for sure that the person you are sending good wishes to celebrates a specific holiday, I believe it's better not to assume and possibly offend.... Also, wishing someone "Merry Christmas" excludes the secular holiday of the New Year. Why not be inclusive?

Merry Christmas, Kajun, and hopefully the New Year will be happy for you and yours.
The new setup was strange to me as well, and I am just now getting used to figuring out how it all works, but I think I like it.

Good to see ya back, TXKajun. Aren't ya glad your APAP therapy is going well? Imagine dealing with extra job and family responsibilities without good sleep! Stop by when you can - the door is always open.

Hope things get better in the New Year!!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
As far as being politcally correct -- I celebrate Christmas and that is the term I will continue to use. I feel that society as a whole has "watered down" too many traditions as it is by insisting on everyone being "politically correct". You celebrate your holidays and I will continue to celebrate mine.

Hey Kajun....
Welcome back -- (not me above -- dunno......)
Not very PC myself - one of those things that are dragging our society into the dumper (it's tradition....get over it!!!) -- I'm actually a Buddhist that celebrates life, so I guess by default I celebrate all "holidays" -- whatever someone wishes to call them.....
I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!!!
Good to hear you're doing well -- all the way around. Sorry to hear about your brother....
Take care
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

What happens when you go away for 9 months - Kopoloff pops up! Be afraid, very very afraid.
