After making a some progress in the last 13 days, with one night actually sticking with it until my alarm went off, the last few nights have been a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I have not been able to wear the mask more than 2-3 hours. It seems the mask - FlexiFit 407 - is either too tight and painful, esp on the forehead and under my nose, to drift off to sleep, or too loose to prevent leaks - mostly in the upper nose/eye area.
Any tips or advice?
And btw I am expecting soon to receive a ResMed Mirage Activa to try, so this may all soon be moot.
Related issue: I read with great interest some earlier posts about whether disassembling a mask when cleaning it is a bad idea because it screws up the seal. If that's true, I messed it up already - but wouldn't it get moldy eventually if you don't take it apart to clean? And wouldn't the foam get ruined if you immerse it in water?

Re: Mask Nightmare
I'm there too. The mask has started to get closer and closer to leaking. I also start to feel like the headgear is too tight,
but loosening it leads to more leaks. I hope the new mask does the trick.
My mask doesn't have any foam, and I have disassembled, washed and reassembled it twice. It's not probably a good
idea to keep doing that very often, because the seal wears gradually, and it might start leaking between the mask and seal.
I don't know about the foam. Depends on the material, I guess.

Re: Mask Nightmare
My first mask was a FlexiFit 407.
The olny part you're not supposed to get wet is the little piece of foam on the inside (...this unique inner foam cushion provides the secure seal). if you do, this delicate part will be destroyed for good!
The frosted silicone seal helps the outer silicone cushion seal against the skin. This can be washed with a little baby shampoo, or a gentle soap.
Also, try to clean your face just before going to bed... to eliminate the natural face oils in that erea...this helps keep a good seal.
Good luck to you.

Re: Mask Nightmare
You've probably read this already, but try loosening your straps versus over tightening. Most masks are designed to inflate to seal and if over tightened, the inflation part of the mask is flattened and then it leaks. Best wishes!
