Humidifier setting on Respironics humidifiers

Post by silver123 » Sun Dec 07, 2008 10:48 am

I can't find info on this though I have looked. Their are five setting on the dial for these humdifiers.

Heated Humidifier Settings >> 1 to 5 (104º to 158º)

My questions is:
Are there incremental settings on this device. Can you set it at 1.5 for example? Obviously, you can physically set it at 1.5 but does the heat setting vary incrementally between the whole number settings? Say 1 is 120º and 2 is 130º? Is 1.5 somewhere in between or does it bump up to the 2 setting?

thanks for any responses,
silver

I wouldn't count on the temp to be a set degree, one is the lowest, five is the highest, it's not very good at making fudge. It just warms water so it can evaporate into the air flow. No need for it to be smart or calabrated, flow and room temp, had moisture in the air all add into the mix, on how well it works. Jim

I am not concerned about it being a set degree, I am just wondering if it only has the five set points for whatever those would be. If you set it inbetween those points, does it heat somewhere between?

Thanks!

I set mine between numbers sometimes, but it probably is on one number or the other. When the guy set me up, he said to run it just a little past 1, so maybe it does work on the 1/2. I dont know..

Nope, it gives only 5 heat settings. If you set it between you will get one or the other. It is a simple switch not a reostat. At least mine is but it is one of the older units. I took it apart when it shorted out the heating element due to leaks.

That what I was starting to think from the way from the way it behaves. My DME, who appears to know almost nothing, had told me to do halfs and it seemed to not be any different.

I appreciate the responses,

Mine's a newer one and also has only five settings. If I try to put it between, it goes off...at least the light goes off, which means to me that it's not working...

I think there might be brands of humidifier that allow for incremental settings, so you might check in to that if you're looking to get a new one.
