OT Bonus day edit:Record Year

Post by carbonman » Sat Dec 06, 2008 4:00 pm

Thanks! everyone. I really have fun taking the pics.

Set a new personal record today.
5,001miles/year 211,947' vertical

I have had 5K miles as a goal for years.
There is no doubt in my mind that my new life,
due to cpap, is a hugh part of this.

I had a great TripleByPass ride, after only 12 days, on the hose.
Now 5+mths later, I get stronger everyday.
I feel it as I do familiar climbs in bigger gears.
I feel it when I am able to recover from hard rides, over night, instead of days.

I have had to add to my philosophy of life....

CPAP and cycling are life, the rest is just details.

Such wonderful pictures, Carbonman. Thank you.

Interesting how the same words mean different things in different areas. Those meandering roads you call switchbacks are called "S curves" around here. A switchback, on the other hand, is a tree or bush branch that suddenly flies in the opposite direction after you push it out of the way while walking through the woods. It's also the word, if your timing is perfect, that you yell to your companion right behind you at precisely the same moment that you hear a very satisfying "THWACK!!"

Beautiful, Carbonman!

Marsha, out here in Washington state, "s" curves are on the freeway and are much gentler angles than switchbacks (which are the same as in Colorado). It is very interesting how words take on different meanings in different places....

"What kind of coke do you want?" where Coke has become the generic name for soda in some parts of the South (like Texas where my family and friends live).
