Is the ResMed AutoSet Respond a decent machine?
Is the ResMed AutoSet Respond a decent machine?
I was going to add my ResMed AutoSet Respond machine to the equipment list on my profile, but I don't see it listed in the drop-down menu of machines. I see my mask and humidifier on the lists, but not my CPAP. Is this an unpopular machine? Just curious why it wasn't listed. Does anyone here use one? What is your take on it?
I bought my unit used with just a few hours on it about a year ago for $400.00. Was that a decent price?

Bump.
Anyone?

Re: Is the ResMed AutoSet Respond a decent machine?
It's not listed because it's old tech, and not sold anymore. If you use it for 5,000 hours and the treatment was good you got a good deal. I paid $325 for a Remstar Classic Tank w/HH and mask, Newer machine than the respond. I got 6,000 hours on mine, it was a good deal, and is still working fine. Jim

Re: Is the ResMed AutoSet Respond a decent machine?
The machine was released in 2003 in the US & IIRC replaced the Resmed Autoset-T. It was released at the same time as the Vpap III Bilevels.
It was known as a very reliable quiet machine and if it is equal or better than the Autoset - it is an excellent machine.
The follow-on model was the S7 Spirit that in turn was replaced by the S8 Autoset Vantage & that by the S8 Series II auto models.

Thanks! I've been real happy with it. What would you recommend as an upgrade when I decide to go that route?

Without any doubt the Resmed S8 Vantage II Auto (with EPR)MusicMan wrote:Thanks! I've been real happy with it. What would you recommend as an upgrade when I decide to go that route?

Take a peek at this link put here by Ozij. The person quoted is worth reading as he files most of the patents for Resmed & is one of the pioneers with Dr Sullivan of cpap therapy & helped develop the 1st ever AutoCpap (The Resmed Autoset T).
I have one of them in my cpap museam & it is still an outstanding machine if not a bit big by todays standards.

Since you're clearly doing well with the Autoset algorithm, I agree with dsm's recommendation - get the newest version of that machine.

I would also support the decision to purchase another Resmed product and the Resmed S8 II Autoset w/EPR is really the way to go.
