DUH! I have NO IDEA WHY I didn't think to post this when I got the notice. Nothing like last minute information!!1
Covenant HealthCare is hosting an apnea support group meeting tonight, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 at 8 PM at the Mackinaw Campus, Tittabawasee and Mackinaw Roads, at 6 PM in the Basement Conference Room. (Tittabawasse Road exit West off I-675, 5th traffic light if I remember correctly)). Light, healthy, refreshments are served.
I don't think they are holding a support meeting in December because of the holidays but I will ask tonight and TRY to remember to post notice of the next meeting w/more advance notice.
If you can make it tonight, just look for the crusty ole broad in dark blue sweatshirt w/applique over a burgundy turtleneck and burgundy jeans. That'll be me! (By the way, the Covenant staff are GREAT!).

Re: Saginaw, Michigan Apnea Support Group Meeting
Go ahead, SnoreDog! Add insult to injury! I've been driving since I was 14. And always in heavy deer territory. And never hit a deer until I was 60 years old!! He came up outta a ditch and was landing on his front feet when I hit him so the only damage to my car was a cracked plastic hood or casing around the radiator fan. AND I got to EAT HIM! Hubby wouldn't mount the rack for me tho, 'cause all that was left was the nubbins, the rest were road dust. *sigh* I thought it was very unfair of him. Figured it was probably the only buck I'd ever get!
Then, darn if a month later, 3 AM, if I didn't hit a big doe! I was lucky, I'd seen oncoming headlights twinkle way ahead and so had slowed down and seen a few more deer cross and was only doing aboug 35 when one last doe decided she had to catch up w/the gang. SHE did a number on my car. And I was LUCKY! She hit just at the windshield & roof of my car, slid down the windshield, spun around on the hood and came off the side of my car - ripping my sideview mirror off in the process. THEN she had the NERVE to scramble in the road, screaming, then took off into the woods. Hubby and I tracked her a distance when daylight hit but lost her trail. Obviously I didn't get to eat HER! And she owed me for the damage she did to my car.
Then, doggone, this recent doe. Fortunately, she was down already and just as fortunately I ran over her square on. At 70 mph I'm sure if I had hit her w/just one wheel or the other we'd have flipped or at least gone into one h*ll of a skid and spin!!! There was no saving her venison. She was burger on the road after I went over her. She got my external radiator cooler and HOPEFULLY nothing else. Nothing apparent anyway. knock, Knock, KNOCK! No deer w/car for 50 years and then 3 deer in less than 6 years. *sigh*
Anyway, the meeting tonight was great!!! The new Respironics Rep (a sleep lab RPSGT for 13 years or so until recently) for our area was there w/ several masks and answered questions, etc. And the Resmed Rep was there w/lots of masks and a VPAP ST and answered questions, etc. They had 17 drawings for hose covers, cookies, etc. I won a HUGE designer cookie!! The good Lord sure does look after fools! I had a good conversation w/the Resmed Rep and he knows how to solve my problem w/the "puff" in Spontaneous mode and will get w/my DME's RT to remedy the situation. God bless him! He is also an RRT, RSPGT.
No support group meetings now until 12 February 2009 due to the holidays. But they will be having a Cardiologist as a guest speaker if not in February, at a meeting early next year. At a recent meeting I missed (I think October) they had a dentist who does jaw correction, TMJ, etc. work speak and give a Power Point Presentation.
Anyone in the area the 2009 schedule will all be on Thursdays: 19 Feb, 16 Apr, 18 Jun, 20 Aug, 22Oct (and 10 Jan 2010). Always 6-8 PM at Mackinaw Campus, Basement Conference Room, Mackinaw at Tittabawassee Roads, Saginaw, Michigan.

Re: Saginaw, Michigan Apnea Support Group Meeting
I live across Michigan from Slinky, and I have near misses all the time. A lot of deer are coming into town to get away from the hunters since deer hunting season began...actually I think it makes it easier--venison from your living room! I'll save you some Snoredog if I actually hit one.
Slinky, who knows, maybe I'll come to a meeting in Saginaw. As soon as things settle down for me, I'd like to start an AWAKE chapter in the Michiana area (South Bend, IN-Benton Harbor, MI area). The nearest AWAKE chapter is Kalamazoo, at 100 miles. I've contacted them, but have never got a reply. I have a couple of RT's and one sleep center who would help me here. So, if there is anyone out there in the Michiana area who would like to help me start one, please pm me. Has anyone else on this forum ever started an AWAKE group in their area, who could give me advice?? Thanks, Lovey

Highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity.Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience, and truth over popularity. Travel the path of integrity without looking back, for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.
Re: Saginaw, Michigan Apnea Support Group Meeting
Lovey, it needn't necessarily be an AWAKE support group. We SUPPOSEDLY have an AWAKE support group in Saginaw and another also in Owosso. I've contacted the persons listed at each, more than once, and NEVER gotten a response from either one. The one in Saginaw is listed thru an independent sleep lab and even leaving a message at the sleep lab he doesn't bother to respond. Needless to say, I have NOT been impressed!
On the other hand, I DO wish you good luck in getting a local support group started!!!!
