Help with my numbers

Post by liv2kite » Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:36 am

Should I worry about snores averaging 150/night. Are my AHI and OAI (obstructive apnea index), both in events per hour (I guess), acceptable at 1.5 and 0.2, respectively ?

I have an APAP machine but set it to 6 (which was where I was most of the time in APAP mode excepting leaks). But, 6 seems to be a mistake for 2 reasons: 1) it is slightly hard to breath while I am still aware of it when awake and 2) I have so many snores (but don't know if they matter. I set to CPAP mode because I would wake up on leaks due to the machine ramping up (maybe that is good ?). Probably should have done this with my sleep doc ... but it just takes time to go to doc.

I think I will go in and have another sleep study since I have masks that I like now and I am comfortable with CPAP and may get a better sleep study result.

Snores are important to treat because they can still cause arousals and desaturation. What was your 90% pressure while on APAP? (APAP will try to eliminate snores so the 90% number will take the snores into account). You could use that as your fixed pressure.
Your AHI is OK but you're still spending a lot of time in apnea.
Sounds like you need a higher pressure (in my layperson's opinion).

You don't want to use average for min pressure ... use 90% value.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
