MSeries machine turns off?

MSeries machine turns off?
Anyone have this experience? I have a Respironics MSeries with AFlex autopap, I hope that's enough information? It's been twice in the last week where I've been semi-awake, rolled over in the bed and the machine shut off, beeped twice then turned right back on again. I checked all the power cords and everything is plugged in well. The electricity didn't cycle or anything because I have other things plugged in to the same outlet strip and those things stay running. Could something be wrong with the machine? It's still a rental so I can take it to the DME, just wondering if maybe it's something simple I'm overlooking. Thanks.

Search for and read "Newbie thanks, but I have another question." Should answer your questions.

Do a search here on Auto Off. You need to check your setup for Auto Off and turn it OFF. Oh you said you checked ALL of your connections, right?

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

I have done all of the above and my machine is still turning off in the middle of the night. I called my DME and they are exchanging my machine for another one. I've read similar posts on the internet and I think we will eventually learn that there is a defect in some of the M Series machines - Mine is an M Series Plus and not an Auto - working on getting an Auto, though, but that's another story. My DME didn't seem the least bit surprised when I told them that my machine was doing this so that leads me to believe others are experiencing the same thing. BTW, this is a brand new machine so I don't think they knew my particular machine had a problem.GumbyCT wrote:Do a search here on Auto Off. You need to check your setup for Auto Off and turn it OFF. Going the DME route is the way to go.SnoozeButton wrote:I have done all of the above and my machine is still turning off in the middle of the night. I called my DME and they are exchanging my machine for another one.
Here is what you can do-
Remove your card if you are worried about data.
1. Turn the machine On without putting the mask on. Just leave it vent into the room. Watch your watch - If it turns OFF after one minute (even close to) then Auto Off IS enabled on your machine. Disable it to fix your problem.
2. Wiggle your wires in the 3 places they connect to your power brick - the brick is actually 2 separate pieces, make sure they are seated securely. Reseat any loose wires. If your machine does not turn off (after 3-4 minutes) you have another problem. Contact your DME. There have been some reports the the power brick has caused this intermittent shut off problem. Share this with your DME and I'm sure they would rather just swap out the power brick than swap the entire machine. Unless you want another machine, of course.
3. If you are handy, you can separate the brick and disconnect the humidifier power cord to see if that eliminates your problem.
Post back to let us know how you made out.
Good Luck,
GumbyCT
Edit - added wiggle wires and 3.

Re: MSeries machine turns off?
I'm working on getting an Auto, so this problem is in a way a good thing. I've told them that since they have to replace my machine anyway, and since they told me the Plus would give AHI readings which it won't and I need that feature and they know I need it, they might as well just give me an Auto instead of another Plus. Of course that was followed by some more DME lies such as the Auto requires a different insurance code and it costs the insurance company more money, this was of course after arguing with the RT about the information the Plus provided (she continued to claim that my AHI would be recorded on the Smart Card). So as it stands, they are willing to give me an Auto on Monday if I can expedite my doctor's approval for an auto. Guess they've got to make me jump through their hoops. I'll play along with them a little more because of the convenience of them being local, but as I told her (which I think went over her head) I can drive a little further if I need to. I might need to explain to her that my insurance has several other DME's that I can choose from if they won't work with me.GumbyCT wrote:Going the DME route is the way to go.SnoozeButton wrote:I have done all of the above and my machine is still turning off in the middle of the night.
