Higher Pressures and the Hybrid Mask

Post by Lord Darth Beavis » Wed Nov 05, 2008 9:00 pm

I have what may be a simple question, one that I haven't been able to find an answer for by searching--how do the hybrid masks work with higher pressures? I'm on bipap, at 20/10 (actually upped it to 20/12--seems more comfortable, and I feel a bit more rested), and my Quattro full-face leaks abominably! I'm wondering if a Hybrid would work better, and if so, if somebody could make a recommendation, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

LDB

There has been people use it up to about 19... don't think that anybody's tried it higher than that though.

I know there are a few forum members with pressure of 19 that use the hybrid with success. One was Tooly125. I guess ya have to try it and see.

My Bipap goes to 20 and just about the only masks I can wear without leaks are the Hybrid and NasalAire II Large. The Hybrid I'm using now has the chincuff cut (you can do that with the Hybrid) because I keep my mouth closed as a result of using the Hybrid for over a year (it teaches you to keep your mouth gently closed at night wile you sleep). I can wear the mask a bit higher on my long face with the chinflap cut off now. The Hybrid is probably the best designed mask on the market, but you have to be a little patient because you have so many size choices that it takes a night ot two to find the perfect "sweet spot". Good Luck.

Coolness. I guess I'll be calling my insurance to see who else handles DME for them, that's on my (cut-rate) plan. I am SO firing my current DME...Their only carrying Resmed was just the last straw in a long series of irritations.

Thank the maker for this board!
