CPAP parts anyone?

Post by sgsellars » Thu Nov 06, 2008 6:34 pm

I have a Repironics Remstar Auto. It has a broken sensor hose fitting on the nozzle that you attach the mask's hose to. It is a simple matter to replace, if I only could get the part. Respironics is no help, they refer me to my provider who wants to charge too much for repair.

Does anyone have a source for parts?

Wow, if it is illegal to change the pressure it must be illegal to work on your own machine!! I'm just kidding!! I have seen several people that have looked for parts but Respirionics seems to control things like this with an iron hand. From what I have been able to determine your only source might be to find a machine that has a fried main circuit board or frozen blower and pick it up for parts. I do think someone did post a way to repair the sensor hose fitting with some type of epoxy a while back. I will try to find it if I can. Breaking it off is not common but does happen if you twist the hose while trying to remove it.

I found the link. I was from Snoredog but it is so old the picture links are no longer available. You might contact him and he can tell you how he fixed it.

I have the machine working right now. I used a piece of electrical wire insulation as tubing that fits inside the clear sensor tube and then I drilled out the broken off nipple and inserted the new tubing. It took 3 months before I gave up on my provider telling me it was my mask or that I was leaking out of my mouth. I'm glad I finally found the problem.

When I opened the lid from the machine the sensor tube and nipple was broken and barely hanging on. I never even touched it. This caused the pressure to build to the maximum every night. As the tube attachment progressed in breaking off, my problem became worse.

I don't know how long my "fix" will last so I want to replace the part with a proper one asap.
