Lately, when I try to format the Smart Card for Encore Viewer with Card Utility v1.04, I usually get a screen with the following message (don't know how to copy the screen to this post):
“Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
If you click Quilt, the application will close immediately.
Error in the application.”
When this happens, I take the card out of the reader, close the program, reopen the program, put the card back in the reader, and try again. It generally takes from two to four attempts to format the card. Occasionally this screen will come up even after the card formatting process has started. Being a computer illiterate I have not had the courage to click on “Continue”—afraid that I might get into something I could not handle.
Could someone please me what I can do to correct the situation before the formatting fails completely?
Thanks

Trouble Formatting Smart Card
Re: Trouble Formatting Smart Card
leave the card reader plugged in, reboot the computer and try it again. Pro version has "Setup SmartCard" which erases and sets it up after erasing.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Re: Trouble Formatting Smart Card
Unfortunately you have not included which version of Windows you are using. Are you having trouble with anything else on this computer?
I tend to think you are having a problem with your program which may have been caused by a power interruption. I would run a chkdsk. If you don't know what that is, ask a friend who is handy with computers. Maybe your IT dept. at work or school.
Good Luck,
