new machine need help

Post by blackrose » Mon Nov 03, 2008 6:26 am

Morning all,
I am a long time user of c-pap with little or no input from a medical as most only wanted money and couldn't provide good advise.
My present machine is a Remstar auto m series. I use a full face mask and humidifier. It will raise pressure as needed but will not reduce when not needed. This causes me to wake as often as I did before my first machine. When I requested that the a-flex/c-flex be adjusted I was informed that there is a built in delay in the pressure drop. This delay and the resulting high pressure is what is waking me up.
The machine is fully adjustable or it was until I requested that it be set to work as advertised. When it was returned to me it was locked in c-pap and I could no longer make any adjustments. This of course is past the warrantee date and I can get no satisfaction from the supplier.
What I really want to know from others is : what machine will give me control from start to finish. I need a machine that can adjust automatically to my needs. It needs to reduce pressure when not needed. It needs to have full record capability. I have humidifier and full face mask and see no reason not to continue using them. After 5+years they are old friends.
I have not contacted a medical in approx. 2 years and the last one wanted to cut my throat instead of treating me. The one before that wanted to put me into a useless overnight sleep study in the hospital. Even after I gave him my sleep records from the previous 14 months.
As you can see I have a bit of an attitude about this whole thing. This has come from dealing with the issues on my own and not trusting anyone I have had to deal with. It appears that the only ones who care what happens to me is my wife and myself. I will not waste my money and time on useless test when I already know what the problem is. My concern is that I do what works for me and that means I need to be in control.
I hope you can forgive me for being a little grumpy. Thanks

blackrose, if you'll PM me your email address, I'll be glad to send you the Provider manual for your machine. In the PM, please tell me the full name of your machine, the way it is written on top of the machine.
