Profile CUSTOM fit nasal mask?

Post by gracie97 » Sun Jul 31, 2005 2:39 am

Whatever happened to the product described below? Seems like the way to go, but there must have been some unexpected kinks.

"Respironics, Inc. (Nasdaq: RESP) today announced the U.S. market launch of its new Profile(TM) Custom Nasal Mask, a revolutionary advancement in the noninvasive treatment of sleep apnea and other respiratory diseases.<BR>

Profile creates a personalized solution to each patient's needs by profiling the special inner layer of the mask to fit precisely the individual's facial contours. The simplified customization process consists of boiling water, inserting the mask into the hot water, cooling it, and then placing it on the face to create a personalized fit. Good fit is the secret to a better seal with the face, less air leakage, and improved patient comfort. Profile can be reshaped as necessary by repeating the customization process. Available in three sizes and constructed with only four parts, Profile will satisfy the patient's need for comfort, reliability and simplicity and the healthcare provider's desire for minimal inventory."

Gracie, That would sure get my interest

There is a local Aussie engineer who developed a 'moulded mask' - I contacted him but it seems he is redesigning it (the original looked a bit like the mask from Phantom of the Opera

He will contact me when the new design is ready. I will post here

Cheers

DSM

If you will go to Respironics (or CPCP.com) and look for the Respironics mask that is BLUE you will be looking at their gel mask that can be customized by boiling.

Hello

I too have got a "Profile Lite" Gel mask as well.....I have found it very comfortable. I moulded it to the shape of my little button, flat nose and I have found it very comfortable and I have gone thru 2 masks so far the same brand as before.

I have found this is good for people like myself who's got a small face witha small, button nose!!! The other masks are more for bigger people with bigger heads and noses.
Been on CPAP for a while.....I had moderate apenoa
