First Night with U. Mirage FFM

Post by pudellvr » Fri Oct 31, 2008 5:44 am

Few leaks, but TOOOO LOUD!!!! I couldn't tolerate the whistles and whoosh through the vents and my DH had to sleep in a room across the hall. He could even hear it loudly there.
It was comfortable, and not a problem there.
Is there something wrong with the mask? Is there a quieter mask? I was using a medium size.

Thanks
Trish

I've never considered it to be THAT loud......but, it is a little more noisy than the Quattro.
Make sure the little rubber "vent" is firmly in place.
Be sure not to take it apart as I've seen many posts by people who did and then didn't get it back together correctly......and had excessive leaking.

Where are the leaks coming from?

Have you tried the plumbers tape fix yet?

The noise is coming from the vents. The rubber thingy was secure.

Hi, I use that mask and the only time it gets loud is when the hose is not attached properly to the mask and there are 2 tiny winglike things on the inside of the mask that can come undone. Either try to reseat the hookup, or call Cpap.com and they will go over the whole assembly with you in detail to be sure it's all correct (that may be the best way to do it,actually, especially if you're unfamiliar with the thing in the first place).

I took apart and reassembled the mask. I don't know what was wrong but it was almost silent last night. Dh was even willing to not sleep on the other edge of the bed. (He is supportive of my CPAP; he just has sleep issues of his own.)

Thanks!
Trish

That's good news, probably the seal wasn't in place well. Just be sure to place the seal on the mask frame and make sure the frams is in the groove of the seal... then carefully place the plastic cover on top and make sure all the latches click into place. I did it the opposite way for a few weeks before I realized how to properly put it back together.

So what are hubby's problems? With all the advice and opinions flying around on the board, you're sure to get some good advice on him too
