Encore Pro Smart Card gone bad???

Post by vdol52 » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:59 am

I just called Respironics and they tell me my Smart Card has a bad spot on it. When I put it in my machine I get beeping and the error message C-202. He said I need to get a new one from my provider. I do not have a provider, I purchased the machine online and provided my original prescription and settings. Does anyone know where I can get a Encore Pro SmartCard for a Respironics cpap with cflex.
Thx

I bought a spare from cpap.com.
Here's a link:

You are very lucky they talked to you, seeing as you aren't a customer of theirs. However, if they didn't have your card and the right person didn't test it the answer may have been faulty, as most answers are. The contacts on the card may be dirty, also the machine doesn't like the card to be installed or taken out with the power on. I have foumd it to be much more healthy, on the electronics to power down the machine before removing or replacing the card. I keep the machine on a SurgeSuppressor Strip and use it to control the On/Off. Jim

Also the contacts on the card can be cleaned (gently) with a eraser (Gum) not (Typewriter).

I have not personally ever seen a "bad card". If the below doesn't fix it, I'd like to see the card.

Have you tried lightly rubbing the gold contacts with a pencil eraser to remove any oxidation. But more likely the card got corrupted and using the format from this little utility at mycpap.org will fix it. You've got nothing to loose.

Good ideas. I will get a surge supressor on my machine and turn it off before removing the card. I will clean it as well.
Thanks
