HELP! Adjusted Pressure & Still Waking Up!

Post by Emmes_mommy » Fri Oct 17, 2008 1:03 pm

Long story as short as I can make it...

Got my C-Pap machine in May 2004 which was set at a level 9. Worked wonders for me and became my new best friend! Fast forward to June 2008, I'm having trouble falling alseep and staying asleep. I saw my doctor and she perscribed me Ambien for a month which really helped. Now that the perscription is gone and I'm not sleeping again, she suggested I have another Sleep Test to see if I need my pressure adjusted. I decided to see if I could find the "secret code" to change the pressure myself and found this site! My husband and I changed the pressure last night from 9 to 11 and I was still up about every 1 1/2 hours.

My question is, did I up the pressure to much or not enough? How long do I keep it at that level before I'll know if it's good enough.

I am almost 27 and have gained about 34 lbs. since my sleeping test 4 1/2 years ago. So I think this may be the reason I need to up the pressure.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,
Tiffany

Hi Tiffany.

Welcome to the forum and glad to hear you found the information you were looking for.

With regard to the pressure changes.....without a data-capable machine, you really don't know for sure and will have to go by "how you feel".
Going up by 2 cm. can be quite noticeable the first night. I did that a few years ago and the first night was not all that great as far as sleep went. It's a little easier going up 1 cm. at a time, but if you give it another night or two, you'll more than likely get used to it pretty quickly.

We are lacking too much info, as Wolfman says, you really need a data capiable machine and the software to read the results. Filling your profile will help people help you.

If you use a Nasal mask, you could be mouthbreathing, also other leaks can effect treatment. I have found Schiff Melatonin Plus to help my wife that works as goo as Ambien for her. IN fact most nights I use 1/2 dose. It's 3 mg Melatonin & 25 mg Theanine. For Restless Legs, I use Members Mark (Sam's Club) Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc, 333mg-133 mg-5mg in one tab. Jim

So my machine isn't data capable?

What info am I missing in my profile?

I'm going to lower the pressure to 10 tonight and see how I feel. I'm so frustrated!

Thank you for your response!
