Irritation from masks
I've been reading and searching but was wondering is there anything we can use to help? I've read MOM for tape issues. Can I use it on my face for mask issues. I have very sensitive skin and cannot use certain products. I'm even allergic to neosporin oint. I've been using baby shampoo to wash mask and HH container, but it seems everwhere the mask seals is red. If I loosen it too much then it doesn't seal. I am using ff mirage Quattro and also the resp comfort gel. Thanks
Re: Irritation from masks
How long have you been using the masks?
Sometimes it just requires time for your face to adjust... much the same as one adjusts to wearing glasses. The first few weeks may be difficult but after a while you settle in. I have some mild red marks myself in the morning but nothing more than that... they always go away early in the day.
It seems a lot of folks here find the same thing with these full face masks... we are told to adjust them so they seemingly float over the face and that the pressure will cause the face cushion to make a seal. But, when adjusted accordingly the masks always leak and so it needs to be tightened up.

Re: Irritation from masks
My answer to your problem is what I have done in the past to combat this redness all around my nose. I would use hydrocortisone cream on the area during the daytime and that has helped. Mine has gone away somewhat with time, but there is still always the faint ring around the nose.

Re: Irritation from masks
I have great facial irritation issues, too. I have extremely sensitive skin with exzema and acne combined. I am using the Nasal Aire II, because it has the least amount of face-to-mask contact of any mask out there. I also had to quit using my Tiara Topaz chinstrap because the material irritated my face so much.
If you'd be interested in trying the Nasal Aire II mask, I run a free test drive for it. You can read more about it in the links in my signature block below.
It requires VERY LITTLE cleaning. If I wash the cannula once a week, it's a miracle. The hoses get washed MAYBE once a month. I use Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Liquid Soap, as it's very gentle and natural and doesn't leave any residue behind to irritate my skin.
Good luck!!!!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
