Hybrid Review

Post by DreamDiver » Fri Oct 03, 2008 8:29 am

After a few weeks of using the Hybrid, I've come to realize that it may not be my 'Go-to' mask. It's pushing my upper front teeth in. I've already got dental problems, so I don't need the rest of them 'all stove in' by a mask. It's great for a few nights or short naps for me because my AHI is lower than with other masks, but for long-term, I'm back to using the UMFF.

Others for whom the mask fits above and below the front teeth comfortably should enjoy the use of this mask, so I would definitely get on pjwalman's list if you want to try it. It is relatively comfortable.

I had one miraculous day after one great night on the Hybrid. I was full of energy, enthusiasm, and zing.

I could never repeat it.

That seal is just too finicky for my oily complection. Great idea, just not compatible with my skin type.

Peggy's a great gal for offering this mask on a test-drive. PM her if you would like to try this mask before you buy it. See DreamDiver's link above me for more info.

Cheers,
Barbara

Okay, I figured I've got nothing to lose. I chopped off the chin flap. After a week without the flap, the hybrid is now back to being my go-to mask. Somehow, the chin flap was making the upper part of the mask push down on my upper teeth. Now that it's gone, the upper part of the mouth pillow sits well above my teeth and the bottom sits below my lower teeth. No more pushed in teeth.

Thanks to rooster's tips on the hybrid.

This is an excellent mask for me without the chin flap.

Last night was my first night with the Hybrid. It was initially a little fiddly to try and get sealed and seated right, but once I did, I don't think I had any problems with it. I've got a big round face and a big round nose and big round nares and for some reason a lot masks like that.

I didn't have any trouble with the chin flap, but it's nice to know I can cut it off if necessary.

I tried the Liberty last week and absolutely hated it. I've been debating running a test drive of it because I know I'll never use it again.
Have you always wanted to try the Liberty? Test drive it here!

I tried and hated it too. I couldn't get it to fit in any position. However, it does fit certain face types well. I imagine those for whom the Hybrid doesn't work at all would love to try the Liberty.

It might be interesting to compare face shapes with masks to see which face shapes best fit which masks.
