Leaks "less" then the mask should be?

Interesting that my mask leak rate is less then the 30 LPM (26-28) the manufacturer charts. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

My machine is an automatic that is set at 5.5-8.5.

Your profile shows that you have/use the M Series Pro CPAP (straight pressure)......so, I'm a little confused about that. Is the pressure of 5.5 where your Ramp starts or do you have another machine that you're using that is not listed in your profile?
If you have an Auto/APAP, depending on where your pressure spends most of it's time will affect what your leak rate will be, too.

But, besides that, once I did the "Teflon tape fix" to my Quattro mask, the leak rate went from upper 30's to lower 30's.....about a 6 - 8 point drop in the leak rate. The chart shows about 38 - 40 is about where it should be at 12 cm.
I've also noticed that different machines can also report leak rates differently.
AND.....Encore Viewer rounds up leak rates and by several points higher than the Encore Pro software does.
(this last one I'm putting in for informational purposes and would be the opposite of what you're apparently seeing)

It is a good idea to write in which mask & machine when asking for help. The reason is people simply forget to change things listed in their profile. Plus when looking at those icons in the profiles you can't tell one machine or mask from another. It would be nice to make things easier for those who help.
