My second post!
Daytime exhaustion -> sleep study -> called back for a titration study without ever talking to a doctor.
Saw the sleep guy who gave me my report showing 74.5 apnea events per hour, not much rem sleep, pulse O2 dropping to 0.85 with each event.
OK, I got the RX for a CPAP, quick training at the medical supply place, and here I am at home.
Using the machine isnt the most pleasant thing, but I think I can tolorate it. The C Flex works well, the mask seems to vent air from the exhaust port (machine set at even when I am not exhaling. I wake much less, am much better rested, things are feeling great.
OK, here's the question - I see so many people here tweaking and tuning and logging, etc, am I missing something? I have no idea if I mouth breathe at night. Wife says she doesnt notice it but can hear some long pauses in my breathing, Should I just shut up and live with the machine? How can I tell if it's doing all it should be doing?
Should I be asking more??
Re: Should I be asking more??
Your machine doesn't give any useful data so you can't tell if it's doing all it should be doing. Give it a week or so to allow yourself to adjust to this new way of sleeping. You will have to go by how you feel. Luckily your wife pays attention and has noticed 'long pauses'. This should be brought to the attention of your doctor if it continues. Having a data capable machine-If it were me and continued for more than a week, I would bump the pressure up a notch to see what happened.
Can you try to get a data capable machine? Possibly contact your MD and tell him/her you need to see what's going on?

It's possible you are one of the lucky one's and you're doing well right out of the shoot. I've heard more men report this than women. Probably because most equipment is DESIGNED FOR MEN.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Re: Should I be asking more??
I didnt do anything. I know I'm stuck in this thing for a long time, so all the buttons, reports, data etc dont mean anything to me. First, there is nothing I can do about it, and second its just more details I'd have to deal with.
Re: Should I be asking more??
I am in the same boat. Since I am having a "bad night" every couple of nights, I did ask my Doc to request an upgrade of the machine. I would have gladly paid, when I received the CPAP, the difference to have the data capable machine right from the start. The data would really help me to figure out what I am doing on the bad nights versus the good nights so I can correct it.
