I really don't know much about complex sleep apnea, but I wonder if your sleep clinic considered that possibility. The report you posted sort of reflects some of the explanation
in this reference:
Patients with complex sleep apnea at first appear to have obstructive sleep apnea and stop breathing 20 to 30 times per hour each night. But unlike typical obstructive sleep apnea patients, their breathing problem is not completely alleviated by a CPAP (continuous airway pressure) machine, which functions like a pneumatic splint to open a patient's airway. Instead, once the CPAP is applied to complex sleep apnea patients, the obstruction seems to dissipate, but still they do not breathe properly. Symptoms of central sleep apnea then appear and fragmented sleep results, due to frequent pauses in breathing.
Basically, when centrals get worse during CPAP therapy, you might have complex sleep apnea. Another way I've heard it described is that nothing the sleep tech can do with the settings makes your problems go away, they just morph into different problems.
For my own edification, I'd be curious to know if your machine can detect central apneas/hypopneas and distinguish them from obstructive events?

Ok, I took everyone's general advice to slow down and stop making scattershot changes to my therapy. I've been five days on the same pressure setting 7-15. Here are my results:
Pressure/Leak/AHI/AI/HI
9.0 .40 26.1 6.5 19.6
9.0 .1 24.7 3.3 21.4
8.4 .14 22.3 .8 21.5
8.8 .06 16.6 2.6 14.0
9.0 .30 22.5 3.9 18.6
One thing that stands out is that even when I have significant leaks, it doesn't really change my numbers that much. My sleep is not nearly as good as before I started therapy and I have significantly less energy. I have gotten used to the mask and my sleep pattern is similar to before therapy, typically go to bed at 11:00, wake up at 3 a.m. and then sleep until 7:00.
I have ordered the card reader and software (should get them in 7 to 10 days) to hopefully shed some light on what is behind these numbers, but I am at a loss right now. Do you think I should up my pressure to 8 and run with that for a week?
Thanks

One more thing I was thinking about. Is there any significance to me being more tired now during therapy given that I am "used to" the therapy and sleeping. It just seems somewhat strange.
