Ultra Mirage II Nasal Mask

Post by imacpappro » Mon Jul 25, 2005 3:26 pm

Hello All,

ResMed is upgrading the current Ultra Mirage mask. You can see it on their site at:

http://resmed.com/portal/site/ResMedUS/ ... nPNum=null

Basic cushion and design are the same, just changed the forehead assembly to be the same as the Activa and Ultra Full Face Mask. Plus there are new forehead clips. ResMed is going to start replacing the original version with the new, using the same part number. The standard size is the first release due to stock issues on the original standard size.

Mirage masks

Suggestion, make the forehead assembly for the Ultra Mirage FF mask the same as the Activa nasal mask or possibly your new forehead assembly. The assembly on the FF mask is to wide and is not angled and is the main cause of a side sleeper losing the seal because it sticks out too far and will catch the pillow/bedding. I tried to interchange them but of course you guys didn't think of standardizing them for some reason.

It looks like they are simplifying their production, by using the same parts for the three masks. This should also make it easier to get replacement parts for the user. I do like the forehead pads and mask clips from the activa better than the ones from the old ultra mirage. In my opinion ResMed not only makes a comfortable mask, but one that is really durable. Mine have lasted for several years of use.

I got an ultra mirage full face mask last May and tried it for about a week. I just kept getting leaks. About the time I would drift off to sleep, noisy leaks would wake me up. I finally gave up and went back to the Breeze Nasal Pillows and taped my mouth shut. I decided to give the ultra mirage another try last night. It leaked worse than it did when I tried it last May. I had to strap it so tight that it hurt and when I would finally start to drift off to sleep, the loud leaks would start again. I finally gave up about midnight and went back to the Breeze. The head clips are too bulkly and the mask in general is just not good for side sleepers (which I am). I wish somebody would come up with a really good full face mask that didn't leak so badly. I wear the standard small ultra mirage but get really bad leaks around my mouth. It's just not worth it. I tried sleepin on my back but could never get to sleep. I've tried all of the different pillow also and it just didn't really help with the full face mask. After last night, I'll never be unfaithful to my beloved Breeze again!
