took machine home, need suggestions with results

I had a sleep study done in 2003 & I did not have sleep apena (but I was the same weight as I am now). It did say I had RLS instead. I have been extremely tired since 2003 until now (2008). The tiredness is much worse the last 2 years. I took a machine home to help diagnose sleep apena (it had a thing to put in my nose, a belt around my chest and a pulse ox for my finger). Much to my surprise the nurse called and said I needed to go in for a sleep study at the hospital because I snored about 1,429 times, I for sure stopped breathing twice and possibly more (including the 14 other hypothe a episodes (shallow breathing she said). She also said that the hypothe a tells us that your oxygen level dipped below 50% at least 14 times. HOW BAD IS THIS? I know it is not good to stop breathing 2 times but does anyone know how bad hypothe a is and what it means? I am going to have a sleep lab test done next week but I just can't figure out why they did not see the apena in 2003. Why would I have it now but not then. I guess I am scared to go in for another test and they find nothing.

rRohndaH,
Looks like you were reading an old thread and added to it. You may want to start a new thread with your topic of concern. But just briefly, my obstructive sleep apnea didn't show up for the first few studies I had done, as the limb movements didn't let me sleep enough for the apneas to happen. Is your RLS being treated? It is not unusual to have one or the other, and when that one is treated, the other becomes more apparent. Your results show oxygen levels of real concern. If those readings were accurate, don't waste a minute following thru on the study and any recommended treatment.
