I called the 800 number at Respironics regarding the (so called) repair/replacement of my machine and they spoke to me and they are also supposed to have a Tech call me about installing Encore Pro 1.8i Ver. 2 on my Laptop, hmmmmm I really wonder if that will happen!
BTW- Rspironics told me that I had to mail my cpap unit to the place I purchased it from and then they had to then mail it to Respironics
That is the way it is returned to you as well, Respironics sends it back to direct home medical or cpap.com or where ever you purchased it and then they mail it back to you!
You can't just send it to Respironics yourself to have it repaired... Jacked-Up!

My PUBLIC Apology to SNOREDOG !!

Forgive me for doubting you, SnoreDog!!! Here is the coy, non-answer I got from Respironics.
That pretty much decides it for me! I'll stick w/my Resmeds! Resmed has always been upfront, responsive and not at all coy w/me when I've contacted them. I'll just go w/o a backup/travel bi-level. Stuff Respironics and Philips!!!
I'm waiting until I cool down before I respond to this coy, non-answer. IF I even bother. Right now, if I did so it would be a scorcher.

Snoredog wrote:one needs to eventually get over the tank as they stopped production of it over a year ago. The ones you see are what were left over in stock, but if you read the Respironics warranty you will find it is 24 months from the time it ships from the factory to the distributor, that is when the 24 month clock starts.
So if that happened 6 months ago, you only have a 18 month warranty, if 12 months ago only 12 months left. ...

The prices are looking good right now for the pre-M series Bi-PAP and the guarantee issue will be the deciding factor whether I buy one or not. (Gotta do something w/the tax rebate from BushBaby). This is probably the only opportunity that I will have to be able to afford a backup and travel bi-level.

Thank you for your inquiry. You must speak with the DME regarding the warranty status of the unit.
We apologize for your inconvenience.
Thanks you,

Back to the original question ....
I have both and prefer the TANK model because:
- The humidifier reservior holds more water
- That reservoir is also easier to fill - right through the hose outlet without having to take the water tank off of the machine. As for wearing out the hose connector ... get a plastic quick release connector from CPAP.com. That QR connector slides over the hose outlet slicker than owl do-do. No strain, no leaks and it doesn't wear out your rubber hose connector. All my hoses have QRs on them now.
- The integrated power supply for the TANK means less clutter on my bedside table.
- I have two TANKs and both are quieter than my M-series but I realize the blower noise varies from machine to machine so that may not be a valid generalization.
