CPAP mask and small head

Post by Small Head » Thu Jun 30, 2005 3:11 pm

Just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on a CPAP mask that will last for a person with a small head. I have experience that most of the head gears stretch over time and I lose my seal, so I don't get as good a nights sleep as I should. Then I have to go out and get a new mask. Anyone having this problem.

Anyone suggest a CPAP mask.

Thanks

Hi Small Head,

First, I have a small head and face and wear a petite size mask. I feel your pain.

Did you know that you can buy the headgear separately? No need for the more expensive mask.

You don't mention what mask you are currently using, so I am not sure what type of headgear you have that stretches. I find that by moving the velcro I can tighten my headgear up and maintain the seal.

As far as I have been able to determine, all headgear is sized the same, it is only the mask size that can be bought smaller.

I successfully use the Comfort Gel mask. Not because it is the most durable or long lasting-but because it fits comfortably and keeps a good seal for 3-4 months. After that I think it is the silicone part over the gel that wears out.

I'm not sure if I answered your question. My experience is that the small nasal masks are not as well made as they should be. The only other option I can think of is the other style mask such as the Breeze, Swift, etc. I don't find that type comfortable and am not sure how well they fit petite people.
